Most people underestimate what running a car costs, because the money leaves in small amounts across a dozen categories. Fuel is visible. Insurance is annual and forgotten. Tires, servicing, inspection, parking and tolls arrive irregularly enough that they never feel like part of the same number.
What gets tracked
- Fuel — volume, price per unit, total, odometer, full or partial fill
- Service — from the invoice, with parts and components
- Insurance — premiums and renewals
- Tires — purchases, swaps, storage
- Financing — loan and lease payments
- Parking, tolls, cleaning, fines and anything else you add
Receipts can be photographed instead of typed: the date, amount, currency and vendor are read and filled in for you, and the receipt stays attached to the entry.
Charts that answer real questions
The statistics screen covers fuel consumption over time, monthly cost by category, fuel price trend, spending split by category, and odometer over time.
Consumption is calculated honestly. A litres-per-100km figure is only meaningful between two confirmed full tanks, so intervals built from confirmed full-to-full fills are shown as solid, and estimates from partial fills are shown separately and marked as estimates. Averaging the two together produces a number that looks precise and is not.
Trips
A trip is a named, date- and odometer-bounded journey — "Croatia, August" — that groups the fuel and expenses made during it. One trip is active at a time and new entries join it automatically, with an opt-out on each entry. You can also create a trip retrospectively over dates that have already passed.
Each trip gives you totals per currency, distance covered, cost per kilometre, and budget against actual — which is the number you want when deciding whether driving was cheaper than flying.
More than one car
Costs are per vehicle. Two cars in a household do not average into one meaningless figure; each has its own expenses, fuel log, statistics and totals.
Getting data in and out
Existing history from another app imports via CSV — see switching from Fuelio, Drivvo, Spritmonitor or aCar. Going the other way, you can export a PDF report or CSV for spreadsheets, and back everything up into a single portable file.
